Washington, D.C. -- Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, released the statement below after the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) issued outline guidance on considering harmful carbon pollution under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The guidance will provide transparency to the public on how federal agency activities will impact climate change.

Senator Boxer said: "Carbon pollution affects all of us and puts Americans at risk for its impacts, including extreme weather events, higher temperatures, droughts and heat waves. This new NEPA guidance will help federal agencies assess how their activities contribute to increased carbon pollution and dangerous climate change."

Plant a tree. Trees not only beautify your yard and increase the value of your home, they also absorb carbon dioxide pollutants and release oxygen into the air. A mature tree also helps shade your home from summer heat.
