Washington, D.C. -- Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, issued the following statement regarding the Obama administration's suggested requirements to reduce carbon pollution from heavy duty trucks. The suggestion would cover all heavy duty trucks starting in model year 2021 through model year 2027.
Senator Boxer said: "This suggested truck fuel efficiency standard is another important step forward, because the reduction in carbon pollution will be the equivalent of taking in excess of 210 million cars off the road for one year. President Obama has demonstrated true leadership in reducing dangerous carbon pollution, and his commitment will bring other countries along the path to a strong arrangement at the Paris climate treaty negotiations at the end of this year."
