Washington, D.C. -- Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, issued the statement below following the Obama Administration's commitment to reducing carbon pollution leading up to the Paris climate treaty negotiations. The U.S. submission states the country intends to reduce carbon pollution between 26 to 28 percent (from 2005 levels) by 2025.

Senator Boxer said: "Following the historic U.S.-China arrangement in November to cut carbon pollution, the President has again demonstrated leadership in addressing the threat posed by climate change. Today's announcement confirms that the U.S. is doing its part to reduce dangerous carbon pollution, and this effort will continue to bring other countries along the path to a strong arrangement in Paris."
