Washington, D.C. -- Today, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, issued the statement below following the release of a
new analysis by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which has found that the rate of global warming over the last 15 years has been as fast, or likely faster, compared to the previous 50 years. The peer-reviewed scientific findings also rebut the claim by some climate change deniers that global warming is slowing down.
Senator Boxer said: "This latest N.O.A.A. report supports what scientists have been saying for decades - climate change is happening now and it hasn't slowed down. Climate change deniers in Congress need to stop ignoring the fact that the planet may be warming at an even faster rate than previously observed, and we must take action now to reduce dangerous carbon pollution."
