Senate Confirms Jeffery Baran for NRC Commissioner97185

Washington, D.C. -- Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, issued the following statement after the full Senate confirmed Jeffery M. Baran with a vote of 52-40 to be a Member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for a term ending June 30, 2018.

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA), Chairman of the Environment and Public Works Committee, said: "I am so pleased that the full Senate has confirmed Jeffery Baran to be a Member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for the term ending in 2018. I believe he will help lead the NRC in a way that will increase the level of confidence the American people have in the safety of the nation's nuclear facilities."

The nomination was approved by the E.P.W. Committee last week.
