Inhofe Meets With Mayors About Long-Term Transportation Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, today met with Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York City, Mayor Betsy Hodges of Minneapolis, Mayor John Giles of Mesa, and Mayor Mick Cornett of Oklahoma City about the committee's intention to mark up a six-year surface transportation reauthorization bill in June.

"As my committee makes progress on introducing a long-term transportation reauthorization bill, the meeting with the mayors was timely and constructive," Inhofe said following the meeting. "We had a healthy discussion on the state of play regarding the Hwy. plan extension and the importance of federal-state partnership in maintaining and modernizing our roads and bridges. I appreciate their time today, and I look forward to the ongoing input from local leaders across the nation as I work to move Congress forward in passing a bipartisan six-year surface transportation reauthorization bill."
