Minnesota Voices Serious Concern with Udall-Vitter Toxic Chemicals Bill

Washington, D.C. -- Today Senator Boxer, Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, released a letter from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency that voices concerns with S. 697, the Udall-Vitter toxic chemicals bill.
The agency letter specifically focuses on concerns regarding the states' ability to act to protect their citizens from toxic and cancer-causing chemicals. The letter concludes: "Unfortunately, we cannot support S. 697 in its current form due to the extraordinary and possibly unprecedented degree to which states are excluded from having any role relating to chemicals of concern within their borders."
Earlier this week, Senator Boxer released a letter from Vermont Attorney General, William H. Sorrell, who joined 8 other Attorneys General, in voicing deep concerns about the Udall-Vitter toxics chemical bill.
