Inhofe Statement on Renewable Fuel Standard Settlement from E.P.A.
WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), released a statement today following the E.P.A.'s (EPA) announced settlement on Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) volume requirements:
"While today's announced settlement from the E.P.A. brings a deadline for proposing Renewable Fuel Standard volume requirements, the RFS plan still remains a consistently mismanaged plan in need of full repeal. EPA's acknowledgement of the blendwall in their 2014 suggestion brings promise; however, what we need to be doing is improving methods of energy security. Perpetuating the RFS, which allows the importation of fuels for compliance and continues to mandate fuels that do not exist, is not a workable solution. The need for this settlement underscores that the free market should be managing our fuel supply, not the EPA."
