No. 10-OPA60

CHICAGO (June 3, 2010) - E.P.A. Region five has invited Crow Wing County, Minn., and surrounding area residents to review on a suggested permit for an underground injection well.

E.P.A. is extending the review period on the suggested Crow Wing Co. injection well permit a week because a Web address in the newspaper ad was printed incorrectly. The review period will be extended through July 2.

E.P.A. has suggested issuing an injection well permit to Cooperative Mineral Resources of Brainerd so that it can test the feasibility of injecting water underground to mine iron-manganese ore. E.P.A. looks for comments from the public before making a final decision on the permit.

You can read details about the suggested project in a fact sheet posted on the Web at http://www.epa.gov/r5water/uic/uicpub.htm. Official records can also be examined at the Outing Volunteer Library, 6300 Woods Bay Drive Northeast, Outing.

Direct comments to Leslie Patterson, permit writer, Underground Injection Control Branch, E.P.A. Region five (WU-16J), 77 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60604-3590, or to [email protected].

Aggressive driving (speeding, rapid acceleration and braking) wastes gas. It can lower your gas mileage by 33 percent at highway speeds and by 5 percent around town. Sensible driving is also safer for you and others, so you may save more than gas money.
