MWRA Deer Island Treatment Plant Manager Acknowledged for Outstanding Service

(Boston, Massachusetts - Feb. 19, 2013) - Charles Tyler, Project/Program Manager of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority's (MWRA) Deer Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, serving the Boston area, is being recognized with a "2012 Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Excellence Award" by EPA. Mr. Tyler has been the Project/Program Manager at the Deer Island facility for nearly twenty years.
A resident of Sherborn, Mass., Mr. Tyler has over 35 years of experience in wastewater operations, maintenance, operational planning, design and review, construction oversight, commissioning, and public outreach. He has done an outstanding job over the years. Mr. Tyler is a past President and active contributing member of the New England Water Environment Association, as well as a past Director and President of the Massachusetts Water Pollution Control Association.
The E.P.A. Regional Wastewater Awards Plan acknowledges personnel in the wastewater field who have provided invaluable public service managing and operating wastewater treatment facilities throughout New England. Many wastewater professionals throughout New England were instrumental in Mr. Tyler's nomination.
"The professionals operating these wastewater treatment plants, as well as the municipalities and the state environmental agencies that support them, are essential to keeping our environment healthy by protecting water quality. I am proud to give them the credit they deserve," said Curt Spalding, regional administrator of EPA's New England Office.
EPA's New England office formally acknowledged Mr. Tyler for his outstanding work during the yearly New England Water Environment Association Conference at the Boston Copley Marriott Hotel on January 30th.
