E.P.A. is extending the public review period by 45 days for the suggested rule "Revision of Certain Federal Water Quality Criteria Applicable to Washington" (80 FR 55063, September 14, 2015) in response to requests from stakeholders. Additionally, E.P.A. is announcing that it will offer virtual public hearings on the suggested rule via the Internet in December 2015.

Comments must now be received on or before December 28, 2015. The review period was originally scheduled to end on November 13, 2015.

E.P.A. has suggested to revise the current federal Clean Water Act human health criteria applicable to waters under the state of Washington's jurisdiction to ensure that the criteria are set at levels that will adequately protect Washington residents, including tribes with treaty-protected rights, from exposure to toxic pollutants.
