No. 10-OPA59

CHICAGO (May 27, 2010) - E.P.A. Region five has invited Crow Wing County, Minn., and surrounding area residents to review on a suggested permit for a waste injection well.

The public review period will run through June 25.

E.P.A. has suggested issuing an injection well permit to Cooperative Mineral Resources of Brainerd so that it can test the feasibility of injecting water underground to mine iron-manganese ore. E.P.A. looks for comments from the public before making a final decision on the permit.

You can read details about the suggested project in a fact sheet posted on the Web at http://www.epa.gov/reg5oh2o/uic/uicpub.htm. Official records can also be examined at the Outing Volunteer Library, 6300 Woods Bay Drive Northeast, Outing.

Direct comments to Leslie Patterson, permit writer, Underground Injection Control Branch, E.P.A. Region five (WU-16J), 77 W. Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60604-3590, or to [email protected].

Water your lawn in the evening or early in the morning so that it is absorbed by the soil rather than evaporated by the sun. Set your sprinklers carefully to avoid wasting water on pavement.
