(Boston, Massachusetts - Feb. 19, 2013) - The Dover N.H. Wastewater Treatment Plant was recently selected by E.P.A. for a 2012 Regional Industrial Pretreatment Plan Excellence Award.
The pretreatment Plan staff of Dover, N.H., led by Arnie Powers, Pretreatment Coordinator, was acknowledged by EPA's New England Office for exceptional work in inspecting, permitting and sampling its industrial users that discharge industrial waste into the City's collection system. Mr. Power's effort to provide oversight of the City's food establishment sector was one of the primary reasons for the award nomination. For many years, the City has also submitted outstanding yearly industrial pretreatment reports which detail pretreatment Plan highlights over the course of the year. The plant was among 2 facilities in New England acknowledged for exemplary industrial pretreatment Plan performance during 2012.
"The professionals operating these wastewater treatment plants, as well as the municipalities and the state environmental agencies that support them, are key to keeping our environment healthy. I am proud to give them the credit they deserve," said Curt Spalding, Regional Administrator of EPA's New England Office.
The E.P.A. Regional Industrial Pretreatment Plan Excellence Award was established to recognize and honor employees of publicly owned wastewater treatment plants for their commitment to improving water quality through outstanding oversight of its industrial users discharging to the municipal sewer system. More often than not, and particularly with the smaller facilities, conscientious pretreatment coordinators and staff continue to perform exceptionally with limited resources.
The City of Dover was presented the Excellence Award at the 14th Yearly E.P.A. New England Industrial Pretreatment Plan Conference on October 17, 2012 and was also acknowledged on January 30, 2013, at the Yearly New England Water Environment Association Conference in Boston.
