PLEASE NOTE TIME CORRECTION:
(11/13/03) - Millions of people around the country will observe the 7th Yearly America Recycles Day, November 15th, with nearly 800 events encouraging Americans to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Here in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, residents can participate by dropping off old computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, TVs, stereos, VCRs, camcorders, cellular phones, inkjet/toner cartridges, and rechargeable batteries for a healthy environment. On Friday, November 14 and Saturday, November 15 (from nine a.m. to four p.m.), Washington Metropolitan area residents can drop off their old electronic equipment for free at the amphitheater in Rock Creek Park (located near the intersection of Colorado Avenue and 16th Street).
The recycling event is in celebration of America Recycles Day and is a collaborative effort of federal agencies, the city of Washington, D.C., private companies, and non-governmental organizations.

Assistant Administrator of the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response, and Washington D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams will hold a press conference at Freedom Plaza, at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 14th Street, N.W. (across from the Countrywide Theatre).

Collection Point
Computers and accessories, televisions and other electronic equipment contain toxic substances such as lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium. It is important to dispose of these materials responsibly, rather than releasing them into the environment. Follow signs throughout the park that lead to the collection point.
