Yucca Mountain Plan Director to Host Conference Call this Afternoon to Discuss Plan Accomplishments for 2007

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Thursday, December 13, 2007, D.O.E. (DOE) Director for the Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management Ward Sproat will host a press conference call to highlight major accomplishments in the Yucca Mountain Plan over the last year, as well as 2 independent assessments released today on the Yucca Mountain Project.

Yucca Mountain was approved by the Congress and President Bush as the location for the Nation's 1st permanent spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste geologic repository in 2002. The Department projects to submit a high-quality License Application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission no later than June 30, 2008. Learn more about the Yucca Mountain Plan.
