D.O.E. Yucca Mountain Plan Director to Address Countrywide Academy of Sciences

WASHINGTON, DC - On Thursday, December 13, 2007, D.O.E. (DOE) Director of the Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management Ward Sproat will deliver remarks at the Countrywide Academies Nuclear and Radiation Studies Board. Director Sproat is expected to highlight major accomplishments in the Yucca Mountain Plan over the last year, as well as the Department's project to submit a high quality License Application to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission no later than June 30, 2008.

Yucca Mountain was approved by the Congress and President Bush as the location for the nation 1st permanent spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste geologic repository in 2002.
