(Lenexa, Kan., June 6, 2013) - E.P.A. Region seven is conducting sampling at the HPI Products Incorporated location at 1300 S. eightth Street in Saint Joseph, Mo. E.P.A. is conducting pesticide, herbicide, and metals sampling at the location of a grain elevator demolition, due to a potential chemical release during the demolition.

HPI Products began the elevator demolition without consultation with the EPA. Upon learning of the demolition, E.P.A. halted the work at the location pending sampling to determine if there is a human health risk associated with the demolition of the elevator.

No further demolition or work will be completed until the sampling results are final, which is expected to be in the 2nd half of June.
