News Brief: U.S. E.P.A. Accepting Public Comments on Cleanup Project for National Fireworks OU2 Superfund Location

Atlanta-The E.P.A. (EPA) and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) will host a public meeting and begin accepting comments on its suggested project to clean up the National Fireworks (OU) two Superfund Site.

EPA's suggested cleanup project for the location consists of treating the contaminated groundwater and contaminated subsurface soil at the location using Phytoremediation. Phytoremediation involves planting trees to remove and degrade the chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs) in soil and groundwater.

The Public review begins August 20, 2014 and ends September 18, 2014.
