PHILADELPHIA (April 7, 2015) The E.P.A., Delaware's Health and Social Services - Division of Public Health's Office of Healthy Environments, and the American Lung Association of Delaware are sponsoring a two-day workshop,
Essentials for Healthy Homes Practitioners Course, for public health and housing practitioners who assess homes, or treat people with housing-related environmental health problems.
The workshop is designed for home inspectors, property managers, housing advocates, public health nurses and case managers. It will be held April 14-15, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Edgehill Training Center, 43 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, Del.
Representatives from the National Center for Healthy Housing will discuss ways to identify
and resolve potential health problems in homes including: lead poisoning, asthma, unsafe conditions, and pests. Other sessions will cover: understanding health risks, looking at ways that can contribute to comfortable living space, and learning about building codes for remediating housing-based health threats.
