On May 1, 2014, Sonoma Co. officials and participating cities launched
Sonoma Clean Power, a public power plan that presents an alternative to Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (PG&E) because it relies on a greater amount of renewable energy. Sonoma Clean Power's customers are expected to realize a four to 5% savings in electricity charges, or a total of $6 million in savings, in the 1st year. Sonoma Clean Power's renewable portfolio consists of 33 percent of its power obtained from renewable sources that include wind, solar, geothermal, and renewable energy certificates.
