Salt River Plan's Community Solar plan will lower solar prices in May of 2014, giving customers the option to use solar power without having to install panels on their home or business. Customers can purchase a portion of Iberdrola Renewables-owned Copper Crossing Solar Ranch plant's output to be credited toward their monthly bills through the program. The residential price will decline to 9.9¢ per kilowatt-hour (kWh) from 11.25¢/kWh and the business price rate will decline from 9.9¢/kWh to 8.9¢/kWh. Customers pay a premium to participate and can be protected from rate increases up to ten years.
