The International Energy Agency (IEA) on November five issued the IEA Wind 2013 Yearly Report, which finds that global wind energy capacity generates enough electricity to meet about 4% of the world's electricity demand.

In 2013, 5 countries installed in excess of one gigawatt (GW): China (16.09 GW), Germany (3.36 GW), the United Kingdom (2.42 GW), Canada (1.60 GW), and the U.S. (1.09 GW). In the United States, wind energy accounted for nearly 4.1% of national electricity generation, was deployed in 40 states and territories, and represented 9.95% of new U.S. electricity generation capacity at the end of 2013.

In addition, 9 countries increased capacity by in excess of 20%, with Finland boosting its capacity by 67%. See the Wind 2013 Yearly Report PDF.
