The N.C. Utilities Commission (NCUC) has approved Duke Energy Carolina's suggested Green Source Rider. The Green Source Rider is a new plan designed for high energy consuming customers, such as manufacturers and data centers, to match some or all of their energy consumption from new load, such as a new or expanded facility, with energy generated from renewable sources. In order to participate, customers will need to complete an application with Duke Energy Carolinas requesting an yearly amount of energy and renewable energy certificates to be produced or procured over a specified term.

Duke Energy Carolinas will then assign the supply source and contract term request with generation from its renewable energy source or with energy procured through a power purchase arrangement with a renewable energy supplier. Participating customers will then enter into a 3 to 15 year contract with Duke Energy Carolinas.

  Green Tips
Take advantage of carpools and ride-share programs. You can cut your weekly fuel costs in half and save wear on your car if you take turns driving with other commuters. Many urban areas allow vehicles with multiple passengers to use High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes which are typically less congested, further improving your fuel economy.
