City of Manitou Springs (CO) to be 100% Solar Powered

The city of Manitou Springs, Colorado, has agreed to purchase about 0.5 megawatts (MW) of electricity for its city-owned facilities from a solar array that will be built by
SunShare, a solar supplier company. The company projects to start construction of the 2-MW plant in July 2014 and begin generating electricity in October that will be accessible for sale to Manitou Springs and other customers. Manitou Springs will pay 5.6ยข per kilowatt-hour for electricity generated. The arrangement doesn't apply to residential or commercial customers in Manitou Springs, but they can apply individually to obtain their power through the solar garden.
