City of Joliet, Illinois, Purchases 167 million kWh of Renewable Energy

City of Joliet, Illinois, has partnered with JustGreen, a subsidiary of Just Energy Group Inc., to purchase renewable energy. Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are obtained from 100% U.S. wind power facilities and are certified by Green-e Energy, a voluntary certification plan for renewable energy. The REC purchase is equivalent to Joliet's electricity use for the next 3 years, which is estimated to be 167 million kWh.
