$4 Billion in Loan Guarantees Offered for Renewable, Energy Efficiency Plans

The Energy Department on July three issued a loan guarantee solicitation, making as much as $4 billion in loan guarantees accessible for innovative renewable energy and energy efficiency plans located in the U.S. that avoid, reduce, or sequester greenhouse gases.
The Renewable Energy and Efficient Energy Plans Loan Guarantee Solicitation aims to support technologies that are catalytic, replicable, and market-ready. Within the solicitation, the Energy Department has included a sample list illustrative of potential technologies for consideration. While any plan that meets the appropriate requirements is eligible to apply, the Energy Department has identified 5 key technology areas of interest: advanced grid integration and storage; drop-in biofuels; waste-to-energy technologies; efficiency enhancements for enhancement of existing facilities, including hydropower upgrades to existing non-powered dams and retrofits to existing wind turbines; and efficiency improvements.
