WASHINGTON - E.P.A. Administrator Lisa P. Jackson will travel to New Orleans today to meet with environmental organizations and local leaders on the government's gulf coast restoration efforts. As the recently-appointed chair of President Obama's Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Task Force, Administrator Jackson will discuss environmental issues in the gulf and long-term recovery efforts.
The task force was commissioned to help create and maintain gulf coast ecosystems while providing economic support and addressing possible long-term health issues of residents. The initiative will work to provide long-term financial assistance to enhance the region's environment, economy and health.
