Public Meeting to be Held for Pooler Elementary Mercury Spill in Pooler, Georgia

(ATLANTA - June 16, 2008) EPA, the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) and local officials which make up the Unified Command for the emergency response in Pooler, Ga., will hold a public meeting regarding the Pooler Elementary Mercury Spill in Pooler, Ga. The public meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the West Chatham Middle School Gymnasium, 800 Pine Barren Rd., Pooler, Ga. 31322.

Representatives from EPA, EPD, the Chatham Co. Health Department, Savannah-Chatham Co. Public School System, and local officials will be accessible to provide information, answer questions, and address citizen concerns about the cleanup underway.

A media availability session will be held prior to the public availability session on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 to allow officials to answer questions from the media. The media session is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the West Chatham Middle School Gymnasium, 800 Pine Barren Rd, Pooler, Ga. 31322.
