MEDIA ADVISORY: EPA, NHTSA Hold Public Hearing on Suggested Phase Two Greenhouse Gas Requirements for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Trucks

(Long Beach) --- On Tuesday, August 18th, E.P.A. and the National Hwy. Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)will hold a national public hearing in Long Beach, California, to gain comments on their joint suggested rules, ''Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Efficiency Requirements for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Engines and Vehicles-Phase 2,'' and also for NHTSA's Outline Environmental Impact Statement on those rules.

The upcoming public hearing will provide interested parties the opportunity to present data, views, or arguments concerning the proposal, which is accessible online.

Christopher Grundler, director of EPA's Office of Transportation and Air Quality, will attend the hearing, along with other officials from E.P.A. and NHTSA. Grundler will have one media availability during the event.


· WHAT: National Public Hearing on Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Efficiency Requirements for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Engines and Vehicles-Phase two

· WHEN: The hearing will begin at nine a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015. It will conclude when all parties present who wish to speak have had an opportunity to do so.

· WHERE: Westin Hotel, Long Beach, 333 East Ocean Boulevard, Long Beach, California.

E.P.A. may ask clarifying questions during the oral presentations but will not respond to the presentations at that time. Written statements and supporting information submitted during the review period will be considered with the same weight as any oral comments and supporting information presented at the public hearing. Written comments must be received by the last day of the review period, Sept. 17, 2015.
