E.P.A. will lift outdoor burn bans for Eastern Washington Indian reservations today and Monday

(Seattle - December 04, 2015) The E.P.A. is lifting bans on outdoor burning for 3 Indian reservations in Eastern Washington State due to improving air quality.

Burn bans for the reservation of the Spokane Tribe of Indians and The Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation ended today at 12:00 p.m.

The burn ban for the reservation of the Yakama Nation will end at 8:00 a.m., Monday, December 7.

Burn bans were cancelled for all Western Washington reservations on Monday, November 30.

E.P.A. would like to thank residents for their assistance in curtailing outdoor and agricultural burning during the burn bans.

Air pollution can have significant health impacts. Small particles and other products of combustion can be very harmful to the health of family and neighbors, especially those most at risk, including children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with diabetes, asthma or difficulty breathing, and anyone with heart problems.
