E.P.A. joins UGA and Athens-Clarke Co. to Highlight Air Quality Improvement Plan

(ATLANTA - February 19, 2010) E.P.A. (EPA) Acting Regional Administrator Stan Meiburg will join officials from University of Georgia (UGA) and Athens-Clarke Co. in an event that illustrates how funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act will be used to enhance air quality and create jobs in Georgia.

The event will include a demonstration of how filters will be installed on buses, garbage trucks and other diesel engines to reduce the amount of harmful soot particles in the air we breathe. The demonstration will coincide with a day-long workshop at UGA that will educate city and Co. officials as well as community members on steps municipalities can take to reduce diesel emissions.
