DALLAS - (Aug. 12, 2015) The E.P.A. (EPA) recently awarded $503,071 to the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) to administer the state's pollution prevention and control program. The plan includes ambient monitoring, planning, permitting and compliance activities.

ADEQ will also monitor for major pollutants, identifying major and minor sources of air pollution that may be impacting Arkansas. This will help Arkansas residents live healthier and breathe more easily.

For in excess of forty years, the Clean Air Act has provided layers of protection to the ozone layer-saving millions of people from skin cancers and cataracts. It has also cut emissions from power plants that cause acid rain and harm public health. The progress of the Act reflects efforts by state, local and tribal governments; EPA; private sector companies; environmental groups and others.
