WASHINGTON, DC - "I was saddened to learn of the death of Nuclear Regulatory Commissioner Edward McGaffigan Jr. this weekend. In his over 3 decades of public service, Commissioner McGaffigan pioneered plans to promote nuclear energy to power our nation and increase safeguards for commercial nuclear facilities. I wish his family and officials at the NRC my deepest sympathy as they mourn the loss of a friend and colleague."
