Washington, D.C. - House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Nick J. Rahall (D-WV) today released the following statement following the unveiling of the President's suggested FY 2011 budget for the Department of the Interior:

"While the Interior Department has also been forced to tighten its belt during these times of fiscal austerity, I commend Secretary Salazar for continuing our historic march to fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund with a suggested 29 percent increase over current year levels. The LWCF's preservation, protection, and development of parks, trails, and other outdoor spaces and facilities will go a long way in encouraging job creation and stimulating local economies - a sorely needed boost during the tough economic times we continue to face. I am pleased that the Administration shares the Congress' commitment to the merits of the LWCF program."
