Alpena FWCO Ribbon Cutting and Open House to be held April nine
The Alpena Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office (FWCO) in Michigan will open its new facility to the public and media on Friday, April 9, for a ribbon cutting and open house event with Interior Department, congressional, and U.S.F.W.S. officials. Invited guests include Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Senator Carl Levin (D-MI), Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Representative Bart Stupak (D-MI-1), and U.S.F.W.S. Acting Director Rowan Gould.

The Alpena FWCO is responsible for native species and aquatic habitat restoration, invasive species control and other fishery conservation activities in Lake Huron, western Lake Erie and connecting waterways - the Saint Marys River, Detroit River, Saint Clair River and Lake Saint Clair. The M/V Spencer F. Baird is the Service's biggest vessel and assists U.S.F.W.S. biologists in stocking hatchery-raised lake trout into the Great Lakes. Events planned for the Baird are weather dependent.
