(Chicago, Ill. - Dec. 10, 2007) E.P.A. Region five will hold a public hearing Dec. eleven on its objections to Indiana's outline wastewater discharge permit for U.S. Steel Gary Works. E.P.A. Regional Administrator Mary A. Gade will preside over the hearing. She will be joined by a panel of E.P.A. senior managers.
The purpose of the hearing is to listen to comments about EPA's objections to the outline permit. Comments will also be accepted on aspects of the outline permit not addressed by the objections. Written and oral comments will be accepted following a brief presentation by EPA.
The hearing will take place at Indiana University Northwest, Savannah Center Auditorium, 3400 Broadway Ave., Gary, in 2 identical sessions -- from three to five p.m. and six to 8:30 p.m.
Prior to the hearing, E.P.A. staff will be accessible to answer questions from media from two until 2:45 p.m.
