Warwick Sewer Authority Industrial Pretreatment Plan of Warwick, Rhode Island Acknowledged for Excellence

(Boston-March 1, 2010) The Warwick Sewer Authority (WSA) in Warwick, Rhode Island was recently selected by E.P.A. for a 2009 Regional Industrial Pretreatment Plan Excellence Award.
The staff of WSA, led by BettyAnne Rossi, Pretreatment Coordinator and Lab Director, was acknowledged by EPA's New England Office for exceptional work in inspecting, permitting, and monitoring its industrial users. The plant was among 2 facilities in New England acknowledged for exemplary performance during 2009. The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management was instrumental in nominating this facility.
Beside BettyAnne Rossi, WSA staff include: Steven Miller, Pretreatment Inspector/Laboratory Technician and Matthew Gosselin , Pretreatment Inspector/Laboratory Specialist.
"The professionals operating these wastewater treatment plants, as well as the municipalities and the state environmental agencies that support them, are essential to keeping our environment healthy," said Curt Spalding, regional administrator of EPA's New England Office. "I am proud to give them the credit they deserve."
The E.P.A. Regional Industrial Pretreatment Plan Excellence Award was established to recognize and honor the employees of publicly owned wastewater treatment plants for their commitment to improving water quality with outstanding oversight of its industrial users discharging to the municipal sewer system. More often than not and particularly with the smaller facilities, conscientious pretreatment coordinators and staff continue to perform exceptionally with limited resources.
WSA was acknowledged on January 27th at the yearly New England Water Environment Association Conference in Boston.
