The D.O.E. (DOE) Idaho Operations Office has issued a technology development solicitation that requests proposals from multi-partner collaborative teams that focus on plans that will result in large energy savings through the development of process or manufacturing technologies, or enabling materials, knowledge, and technologies for widespread use in the glass industry. D.O.E. anticipates making up to three cooperative arrangement awards with total D.O.E. backing of approximately $5 million over 3 years. Applications are due on January 7, 2003. In addition, the D.O.E. Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Plan is currently soliciting for reesearch proposals for 2 technical topics of potential interest to the glass industry. Topics of interest include Improved Incandescent Lighting (Topic 23a) and Sensors for High-Temperature Environment Applications (Topic 24d).
