SAN FRANCISCO -Today, E.P.A. representatives will attend a public meeting in Saratoga to answer questions about upcoming air toxics monitoring at Stevens Creek Elementary School in Cupertino.
On Monday, E.P.A. representatives met with school faculty and parents to give the school community an update on the monitoring plans. Tonight's public meeting, hosted by the Santa Clara Co. Planning Department, is community-wide meeting regarding recent activities at the Lehigh (formerly Hanson) Cement Plant and Quarry.
In March, the E.P.A. announced Stevens Creek Elementary School in Cupertino was one of 4 schools state-wide being monitored as part of a nationwide initiative to measure air pollution around schools. The E.P.A. will monitor for chromium six at Stevens Creek Elementary School early this summer. The monitor, in place for 60 days, will be installed and operated by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
Tonight's meeting is from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Saratoga Community Center, 19655 Allendale Avenue in Saratoga.
