WASHINGTON (August 24, 2010) - The E.P.A. (EPA) will hold one of its 3 public hearings on its suggested "transport rule" this week in Philadelphia. The suggested rule would cut power plant pollution that drifts across the borders of 31 eastern states and the District of Columbia. The suggested rule, along with local and state air pollution controls, is designed to help areas in the eastern U.S. meet national air quality health standards.

The hearing on August 26 in Philadelphia will be at:
Radisson Plaza - Warwick Hotel
1701 Locust Saint
Pre-registration deadline: five p.m., Aug. 24

The hearing will begin at nine a.m. and continue until eight p.m. local time, or later if necessary. The public may pre-register to speak at the hearings at a specific time. People also may register in person on the day of the hearing, but cannot be guaranteed a specific time slot.

To pre-register to speak at the hearings, please contact Pam Long at long.pam@epa.gov, or 919-541-0641.
